DEFENCE Minister Edgar Lungu has announced that Zambia will in September send military personnel to Central African Republic (CAR) for the United Nations (UN) peace keeping mission.
Mr Lungu said this when he addressed the Army platoon manning the border areas in Kalabo that preparatory works were underway and some officers would be selected for this important mission.
“Government is proud of the record by the officers in the Defence force and we know that their service would be appreciated and we expect you people to display the same commitment during this mission,” Mr Lungu said.
He said Government was also discussing the issue of hardship and operation allowances for military personnel manning the border areas to give them morale as a token of appreciation.
