THE Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) has praised Government for the unprecedented developmental projects taking place in the Western Province.
BRE spokesperson Induna Kalonga said the establishment and the people of Western Province were happy with the road projects taking place in the region.
“The establishment is closely monitoring the Mongu-Kalabo Road to ensure that the millions of Kwacha that the Government of President Michael Sata has pumped in were being utilised prudently,” Induna Kalonga said.
Induna Kalonga said this at the palace in Limulunga when Defence Minister Edger Lungu accompanied by Western Province Permanent Secretary Augustine Seyuba paid a courtesy call on the Litungu yesterday.
He said the face of Mongu town as the provincial headquarters was equally changing following the rehabilitation and upgrading of the roads to bituminous standard.
He encouraged Government ministers and senior Government officials who travelled to the province for duty to be free to visit the royal palace as a sign of respect for the Litunga and the establishment.
Mr Lungu is in the province to check on military installations.
He assured the royal establishment that Government would continue to support traditional leaders in the country and work with them to bring about development.
The minister later held private talks with the Litunga for about an hour.
