By SANDRA MWILA –

AMERICAN coach, Josh Kalkstein, who is attached to the Shepolopolo, says Zambia will be going to the 2014 African Women Championship in Namibia to compete and not as spectators.

Kalkstein said the women team was competitively good and would represent Zambia well in Namibia this October.

“The girls are fantastic and they will develop in years to come,” he said.

Kalkstein was impressed that the Shepolopolo were a young squad that was developing despite lacking experience.

“The team is developing well and I am sure in 10 years, they will win a lot of things,” he said before recommending that the team gets a lot of experience and exposure.

He said the Shepolopolo had good coaches that would develop team.

Another American trainer, Geoffrey Levy, who is also attached to the Shepolopolo, said the local league needed to be established for women football to develop.

Levy said it was necessary for business houses to come on board and support women football because the Zambian game badly needed sponsorship.
