HOSTS Nkana beat Luanshya Royals B by one wicket in thrilling game at Nkana Cricket Club in Kitwe during the Copperbelt Cricket Association league fixtures at the weekend.
Nkana won the toss and elected to field first.
In their innings, Luanshya Royals B made 132, all out in 29.3 overs and had veteran Abid Vali top scoring with 30 runs, while Dennis Musonda and James Chembo contributed 14 and 11 runs, respectively.
The pick of the bowlers for Nkana in the destruction of Luanshya Royals B’s batting order was Ayaz Shaikh, who took four wickets, an impressive feat in a limited overs game at any level.
In reply, Nkana passed the targeted score in 29.4 overs with a loss of nine wickets and had Hashim Sayyed to thank for the victory after hitting an ubeaten 47 runs, while Dinesh Barot made 12 runs.
There were two wickets apiece for Chimya Chilekwa, Anawana Mwape and Charles Chembo for Royals B in the bowling.
In Chingola, Rajesh Choudhury of AMSL XI hit an impressive 57 runs off 60 balls as his side beat Solwezi’s JAID XI by 48 runs in a game played at Nchanga Cricket Club.
JAIDS XI won the toss and opted to field first and regretted the move as AMSL XI posted 189 for 6 in their allotted 30 overs with Choudhury coming out as the star man with his 57 off 60 balls.
The best bowler for JAID XI was Irfan Mohammed with two wickets with Andrew Bwalya getting one wicket.
When they batted, JAIDS XI were all out for 141 runs in 27 overs with Pankil Patel making 37 runs, Rushabh Patel 21 runs and Hemu Shah 14 runs.
Shashidhar Nayak and Rajesh Choudhury were the chief tormentors as each got three wickets for AMSL XI as JAIDS XI were bundled out in the 27th overs.
