THE Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) will next month begin preparations for the Congo Brazzaville 2015 All-Africa Games Zone Six qualifiers.
ZAVA will kick-off the programme by setting up an organising committee to oversee the preparations for Zambia who are the hosts for Zone Six qualifiers slated for October 20-24 in Lusaka.
Zambia was given the mandate to host the Zone Six qualifiers by Confederation of African Volleyball (CAV) congress held in Swaziland in March this year.
ZAVA general secretary, Charles Haambote said the association would next month put in place an organising committee that would also unveil the budget needed to stage the event.
Haambote said ZAVA would ensure that the Zone Six event was well-organised especially that Zambia hosted the World Cup qualifiers last year.
He said coaches would also be engaged to adequately prepare the men and women’s team to represent Zambia in the qualifiers.
“We will build on the existing teams who participated in the last international event. During the World Cup qualifiers, the men’s team reached the last round though failed to qualify to Italy while the women team finished third. The teams are already familiar with competing at international level and now the coaches who will be engaged just have to drill them,” he said.
Participating countries are hosts Zambia, Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe.
