ETOILE du Sahel coach, Dragan Cvetkovic has predicted a tough encounter when the Tunisian giants clash with Nkana in Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup Group B match in Kitwe as it will be the Zambians’ last chance for redemption.
Speaking on arrival at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka yesterday, Cvetkovic said being the rock-bottom team in the group, Nkana would fight as they try to rekindle their chances of reaching the semi-finals of Africa’s second tier club competition.
Despite the hurdles posed by Nkana, the Serbian coach said he had brought an ambitious team to Zambia which could record a positive result.
“It will be a more difficult game as compared to the match in Tunisia because it is their last chance to go up from the bottom of the Group B table. It won’t be an easy game for us. But I have an ambitious team and we are here to record something,” he said.
Cvetkovic said the team was familiar with the Nkana strikers and have prepared adequately for the game as their target was qualification to the semi-finals.
The 52-year-old former SC Bastia midfielder said not all players in his team were observing the muslim holy month of Ramadan which ends on Sunday but was positive fasting by some of the Etoile members would not affect his game plan.
Meanwhile, Nkana assistant coach, Zeddy Saileti said the Etoile clash was a must-win match for the reigning Zambian champions.
Saileti said Nkana’s objective of reaching the CAF Confederation Cup final was still alive and that the 12-time Zambian league champions would be playing for nothing less than the maximum points.
The former Chipolopolo striker, who expressed happiness with preparations, said the players were in good spirits ahead of the epic clash.
“The morale in camp is very high and the players know what is at stake. We are going to put up a good fight for the three points because this game is very important to us especially that our prospects in the competition are very much alive,” he said.
