CHIPOLOPOLO striker Festus Mbewe has joined South Africa Premier Soccer League side Golden Arrows on loan.
Mbewe said in an interview that he was delighted to have secured a move abroad in a deal that is said to be valid until the end of the 2013/2014 PSL season.
“The deal goes up to the end of the season. I am happy to have clinched a move. I am looking forward to signing and a new experience beyond Nkana,” said Mbewe, who will join his Chipolopolo compatriot Joseph Musonda at Arrows.
Mbewe had a successful first season at Nkana following his move from Zesco United at the start of the last season, scoring 13 goals that helped the Kitwe side to win an unprecedented 12th league title.
Mbewe was also Zambia’s joint-top scorer in 2013 on five goals alongside Nchanga Rangers striker Bornwell Mwape.
Meanwhile, Power Dynamos have agreed to extend Christopher Munthali’s loan deal at Zambian league champions, Nkana.
The defender spent the 2013 season on loan at Nkana after failing to hold down a first team place at Power.
Power club secretary Ricky Mamfunda said Munthali will stay at Nkana for another season on loan.
“What we have done is resolved it in the spirit of sportsmanship. We will engage our friends at Nkana with a view of extending the loan agreement for another one season. But in terms of outright sale, that has not been considered,” Mamfunda said.
Munthali had a successful season at Nkana that saw him earn his first of 16 Zambia caps and help inspire the Kitwe giants to an unprecedented 12th league title.
And in another development, Mumfunda said he could not officially state whether they were considering signing Chipolopolo defender Nyambe Mulenga.
Nyambe, whose contract with Zesco United was not extended this season, turned up at Arthur Davies Stadium where he was in the terraces watching Monday afternoon training.
“The only thing I can say is that I am aware that he is out of contract with Zesco United but whether the coaches want him, that I can’t confirm,” Mafunda said.
Mafunda also revealed that midfielder Kebby Hachipuka has left Power after his one year contract expired in December.
