THE Lusaka City Council’s exercise of removing manhood enlargement posters from the central business district in the last few days took me down memory lane. I could not help but carry out my own simple analysis of these offensive posters, adverts and leaflets.
In similar-related press advertisements, it is worrying that relevant authorities have failed to put an end to claims by foreign quacks hyped to have a panacea to each ailment and misfortune that afflicts any Zambian.
Interestingly among the claims – is how to get rich quick and in some neighbouring countries, body parts are in high demand to allegedly be used in concoctions that perform this get-rich-quick cure.
Could this be the reason why most recent murder victims in our local city slums have been found with missing body parts?
Perhaps, every offensive wall poster tells a story and so does every press advertisment that it may be connected to the upswing in ritual murders.
Surprisingly, pornographic videos that have gone viral nationwide online such as social media have neither been linked to the penis enlargement posters nor to the widely advertised sexual pleasure enhancing creams.
I also wonder why the country’s law enforcement agencies never make any moves against authors of these offensive posters.
Meanwhile, their mobile phone numbers are also brazenly advertised using the same posters.
My advice to the security wings, however, is to use these foreign quacks’ contact details to effect arrests and prosecutions.
Would I be wrong to guess that the upswing in ritual murders could likely be linked to claims by these bogus cure-givers?

PF programmes beneficial to the country
THE Patriotic Front (PF) government led by President Michael Sata has come up with measures to increase domestic revenue through proper taxation of the mines and others to accelerate the implementation of critical high-impact infrastructure projects currently going on countrywide.
The PF government has identified infrastructure as a key driver and critical enabler of sustainable growth in our Country.
Focusing on Zambia’s infrastructure like roads, schools, health centres, and energy amongst others will in the near future help in creating the economic boost needed for longer-term growth as well as foster poverty alleviation.
However, in order to improve the quality of life of all Zambians, the government should be encouraged to strengthen labour rights across the country thereby increase more revenue.
Let the Ministry of Labour, trade unions and the media intensify on sensitising the people on their labour rights for instance concerning redundancy.

We need Choma Shoprite store
I WISH to take this opportunity to request Shoprite authorities to consider establishing a retail shop in Choma because the town is highly populated and has a lot of money.
Besides, Choma is now a provincial capital and qualifies to have a chain store. My request follows an observation that products sold at Shoprite stores are relatively cheaper compared to similar products sold by other chain stores.

Poem
Spare that life
The active force in you,
In conflict with a dark cloud over you,
In the last end of life,
A final destination of one’s life,
Goes and goes forever.
A fact far from over.
A mystery in the divine hands of the most high.
You may fail an exam.
You may lose your tuition fee.
You may fall in the motherly way.
Keep calm.
Stand firm.
That fierce tide will come.
But the storm will finally calm.
