A ZAMBIAN man has been apprehended for allegedly helping a Zimbabwean woman obtain a Zambian National Registration Card (NRC).
The Zimbabwean woman was also detained at the Immigration offices in Lusaka on Monday this week.
Immigration Department public relations officer Namati Nshinka said in a statement yesterday that a Zambian man and a Zimbabwean woman were detained for being in possession of what is suspected to be a forged Zambian NRC.
“Investigations in this matter have been instituted,” Mr Nshinka said.
He said Immigration officers at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport are also holding a West African who was refused entry into Dubai for holding a South African passport.
In Isoka on Monday, two Zambians were arrested by Immigration officers after they were intercepted with two undocumented Tanzanian juveniles.
Mr Nshinka said investigations in the matter were still ongoing.
He said the same office also arrested three Tanzanians, a Burundian and a Congolese for unlawful entry.
Meanwhile, the magistrate’s court in Ndola on Monday convicted an Egyptian to both a fine of K2,500 and three months simple imprisonment for unlawful stay.
The same court also convicted and fined a Congolese K500 or in default four months simple imprisonment for unlawful stay and entry.
Another Congolese was also convicted and sentenced to nine months imprisonment with hard labour for unlawful stay.
