AN intern at Levy Mwanawasa General Hospital has been arrested for stealing starter motors from mobile hospitals.
Simon Nsama, a student from the Zambia Institute of Business Management, who was attached to the procurement department was seen stealing the starter motors on CCTV on June 11th.
Nsama 39, was cornered by Police officers in some bar within Kaunda Square Township on July 11 at about 18:15 hours.
Police spokesperson Charity Chanda confirmed in Lusaka yesterday that Nsama was formally charged with theft and would soon appear in court.
Ms Chanda said on the day the suspect was seen stealing, security tried to apprehend him as he was leaving but he ran away.
“He has been formally charged with theft and we have since taken the matter to court. We found him in one of the bars in Kaunda Square recently,” she said.
Meanwwhile, on Wednesday July 16th, a Lusaka business executive Bonaventure Nguni, 32 of George Township was sentenced to four years and five months with hard labour for impersonating a medical and duping out of their goods and money.
Nguni last week pleaded guilty to two counts of impersonating a medical doctor at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) and Levy Mwanawasa Hospital and that of obtaining money by false pretences.
Nguni defrauded and obtained K160,000 cash from Ms Tembo as fees for treatment at Levy Mwanawasa General Hospital.
