COMMUNITY Development, Mother and Child Health Minister Emerine Kabanshi has directed Kazungula Government officials from her Ministry working from Livingstone, to immediately relocate to Kazungula so that residents start accessing various services easily.
Ms Kabanshi said there was need for the officials to quickly relocate
to Kazungula District and start operating from temporary structures
until permanent infrastructure was constructed in the area.
She was speaking in Livingstone on Tuesday when she visited Ministry
of Community Development, Mother and Child Health offices in the
tourist capital where thieves recently broke into and stole various
office facilities.
Two Laptops, four computers, one industrial photocopier machine, two
cell phones for the Government and two boxes of A4 papers from the
Departments of Community Development and Culture were stolen in
Livingstone during the four-day break this year.
“Please you have to move to Kazungula District immediately and I will
start going round to ensure you start operating soon.
We are not saying you go and stay in makeshift structures. We are
saying find a temporal place in Kazungula where you can be operating
from instead of you operating from Livingstone,” she said.
Ms Kabanshi said she was recently in Northern Province where she found
the council operating in a shop.
“There are small shops where you can make offices. I sat in the shop
in Northern Province and I met officers working from there.
We need your presence in Kazungula and I am sure you will find a
place to operate from, while you are waiting for funds to build the
other one,” she said.
On the thefts which occurred at the premises, Ms Kabanshi urged the
affected Government departments to engage more security guards as opposed
to having one.
