Police in Kalabo have arrested a 29-year-old man who is sharing his bedroom with a cow.
Police arrested Wamunyima Mukuta after a tip-off from members of the public and has since been charged with being in possession of a property suspected to be stolen.
The cow in question is suspected to have been stolen from the surrounding area.
The suspect was apprehended last week on Friday in Kashitu Township of Kalabo.
Kalabo Police Officer-in-Charge Kim Masambo, who led a team of officers, apprehended the suspect after searching his home where a heap of cow dung was found in his bedroom.
Wamunyima who earlier expressed ignorance on the matter later led officers to a place where the suspected stolen cow he shared a bedroom with was grazing.
The suspect is in police custody to help police with further investigations and would subsequently appear in court soon.
The owner of the cow has since identified his animal which had been missing.
Recently, Nguma Ward Councillor Mashala Songiso told the Kalabo District Commissioner during her visit to the area that 350 herds of cattle had been stolen from 2012 to-date in the area. – ZANIS
