ON behalf of the royal Highness of the Aushi people of Luapula Province (Mansa, Chembe, Milenge and Chipili districts), we would like to commend the President of the Republic of Zambia Mr Michael Sata on his recent pronouncement of reducing the gap between people of rural and urban areas, which we feel is a vibrant idea.
It is for this reason that, as a concerned citizen and on behalf of the Aushi people, I would like to appeal to the working Patriotic Front (PF) Government to quickly consider and review the mining activities currently taking place in these chiefdoms so that they can benefit our local people, unlike the current scenario.
Through the lined-up programmes for development projects, we would also like to see a diversity in the agriculture sector by empowering more youths with the knowledge and skills in general agriculture.
This will help create employment amongst the youth and alleviate poverty levels.
It is for this reason that we have our thumbs up as we anticipate the development that will culminate from such pronouncements and will reduce the gap between the rural and the urban dwellers.
