NKANA visit Nchanga Rangers today at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola in a rescheduled MTN/FAZ Premier Division League Week 10 match hoping to restore some pride following Wednesday’s setback.
The defending champions return to action just three days after second placed Zesco United beat them 1-0 in Kitwe to dispatch the homeside to its second league defeat of the season.
“We will recover we just have to be strong. We have played so many games it is now all about mental strength.we can achieve what we want,” Nkana coach Zeddy Saileti said.
“It was not easy playing Zesco we knew we were playing an experienced team we just have to accept that defeat so that on Saturday we can get maximum points.”
The loss left Nkana still seven points behind leaders Zanaco on 26 points from 14 matches played with one game in hand.
Nkana also head to Chingola with two major injury doubts with the one being goalkeeper Rabson Mucheleng’anga who suffered a suspected concussion in the midweek loss to Zesco.
Defender Christopher Munthali too limped off in that match and they are fifty-fifty chances he could face Rangers today.
Nkana need a win at Rangers that will see them move into third place on 29 points to stay in close touch with the two main contenders to their title.
Rangers head into their match against Nkana after successive league wins over Konkola Mine Police and Indeni in the lead-up to the mid-season break.
The two results are the first time fifth from bottom Rangers has managed back-to-back league wins since the start of the 2014 season.
“It is a fifty-fifty game we have started picking up points,” Rangers coach Fighton Simukonda said.
“You know we had a slow start because we have a fairly new team but the maturity starting to get into the players.”
A home win on Saturday will move them away from the relegation zone and into eighth place on 20 points.
