A SEVENTY-TWO-year-old man of Chimula Village in Chief Nsokolo’s area in Mbala has been arrested for having canal knowledge of a cow.
Northern Province Commissioner of Police, Charity Katanga told ZANIS in Luwingu in an interview that Wegrie Simpazya was arrested by Mbala police for one count of bestiality contrary to the laws of Zambia.
Ms Katanga said Simpazya was caught in the act with the cow by his young brother Gerald Simpazya on July 4, 2014 around 09:30 hours and later reported him to Police in Mbala.
Meanwhile, a deputy head teacher of Chiponde Primary School in Luwingu District has died while five members of the Seventh Day Adventist Dorcas group are battling for their lives at the district hospital after the vehicle they were travelling in overturned along the Luwingu-Kasama Road.
Ms Katanga and Luwingu District Medical Officer Ernest Mutale confirmed the development in Luwingu and named the deceased as Ruth Chileshe Chansa, aged 37, who died on the way to the hospital.
Ms Katanga said the accident involving a Toyota Ipsum registration number ACR 2107 careered off the road after a tyre burst around 14:30 hours yesterday at Lunte Village in Chief Chitoshi’s area about 45 kilometres from Luwingu District. – ZANIS
