CORRUPTION acts like nicotine drug.It is addictive. It spreads to the brain quickly and repeatedly.
Once hooked, a victim of corruption experiences withdrawal symptoms if his craving for it is not satisfied.
It is true that corruption engulfed the Judiciary along time ago and has weaved its fibres in its systems.
Some officers’ mental inclinations and actions in the Judiciary are dominated by the degrading corrupt practices and this breeds the miscarriage of justice.
As acting Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda uttered at the launch of the Judiciary Service Charter, let’s take her words seriously as our lives depend on laws and correct application thereof.

Mother Zambia: Good, beautiful lady
LAST week, BBC World Service asked the following question: If your country was a human being, what kind of personality would it have?
In my view, if Zambia was a human being, I’d describe it as a humble middle-aged mother.
She’s a beautiful well-mannered Christian lady from a humble background who has been divorced and widowed in her short life.
Mama Zambia is sometimes too kind for her own good. Her kindness has made her good to get along with.
On the basis of natural features, Mama Zambia is simply an African Queen. She’s tight as all get out.
She wears her long hair braided which falls brilliant over her shoulders.
The woman’s ebony face, with large dazzling chocolate brown eyes and kissable full dark lips, goes well with her high cheekbones.
Kampa Senkwe,
KitweSoccer players’ bonuses:
Emulate Greece
WHILE many a time African national teams, especially, are embroiled in bonus wrangles at international tournaments, I take heart to congratulate Greece players for looking beyond themselves but growth of soccer in their country.
Though they bowed out of Brazil 2014 World Cup, they fought up to their necks, apparently stupid as soccer may be, it’s about the goals that the referee has confirmed; not the best team that wins always.
Amazingly, they have not accepted the bonus promised to them by their Prime Minister Antonis Samaras for reaching the knockout stage but have directed that the bonus be used to build a national training facility.
They claim they played not for themselves but Greece and its occupants; the nationals.
Impressing indeed.
This facility, when built, will not only benefit the current players but the upcoming sportsmen and women of that nation and I wish our own African sportsmen and women can take a leaf from there.
