UNITED States Agency for International Development (USAID) says it will continue supporting Zambian youths through a variety of academic and cultural exchange programmes to enhance their access to health, education and civic participation.
USAID Zambia Mission director Susan Brems said in a statement yesterday that the United States Government had embarked on an assessment programme of more than 400 young people in the country to help them acquire practical employment experience, access youth friendly health services and help them participate in their community decision-making processes.
Dr Brems said the United States government through the YouthMap Zambia assessment programme, would ensure the Zambian youth had open dialogue with stakeholders like civil society organisations, community service organisations, and international leaders in order for them to voice out their challenges and goals.
YouthMap Zambia Assessment is a USAID-funded activity implemented by the International Youth Foundation (IYF) to assess the opportunities and challenges youths face in Zambia.
Dr Brems said the YouthMap Zambia Assessment programme engaged young people from all levels of society in order to identify challenges of youths in the country.
She said in addition to YouthMap, the US government would continue to support youths in Zambia through a variety of programmes like the Business and Entrepreneurship Exchange Programme, and the Pan-African Youth Leadership programme.
