Meanwhile, a family of Chimwemwe Township in Kitwe has been hit by tragedy after their 17-year-old daughter committed suicide by hanging herself after allegedly being castigated by her parents over a suspected pregnancy.
The girl who was a Grade seven pupil, left the entire Chimwemwe neighbourhood shocked when she hanged herself using a rope tied from the top of the roof inside her parent’s bedroom.
Ms Kasosa, who confirmed the tragedy which happened last week on Thursday, named the deceased girl as Astridah Lukalaba of house number 4679.
Ms Kasosa said Astridah was the day before she committed suicide questioned by her parents over a suspected pregnancy.
“The following day after being questioned, Astridah locked herself in the bedroom and hanged herself,” Ms Kasosa said.
