Blades 1 Assembly 1-
‘SHARP’ Konkola Blades were yesterday held to a 1-all draw by National Assembly in the MTN-FAZ league week 13 fixture played at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe.
Striker Elson Mkandawire put Blades in the driving seat after heading in Humphrey Maseneko’s corner in the 19th minute.
The home side dominated the first stanza with holding midfielder Misheck Chaila instrumental in supplying the frontline while David ‘Spacio’ Kalandanya caused problems on Assembly’s right wing.
Norman Munthali came close to scoring for the visitors on 26 minutes but William Chibale parried the ball away for a corner before he pulled off another superb save to deny Timothy Mbewe an equaliser minutes later.
After restart, Assembly upped their game with Peter Mwaangani restoring parity in the 75th minute with a stunning strike from a tight right angle that left Chibale helpless as the ball sunk in the net. The goal came after Mkandawire was denied a brace by the upright nine minutes earlier.
The result left Blades in fifth position, seven  points adrift leaders Zanaco who are on 29 points but one ahead of Assembly who also remained stuck in sixth place.
