NKANA assistant coach Zed Saileti has vowed to stir the Zambian champions to success.
Meanwhile, the Nkana Fans Association has appealed to the club executive committee to maintain the current technical bench and elevate Saileti as head coach following the death Masauso Mwale, who put to rest in Ndola on Tuesday.
Saileti said in an interview that he clearly understood the club’s vision and philosophy and that the team would go all-out to deliver success.
He said though the club had suffered a setback following Mwale’s demise, the determination and hunger for more silverware had been energised.
“Everyone on the technical bench understands the philosophy of the club and we will continue where coach Mwale left off. If anything, the determination in the team has grown bigger than ever before and we will fight for more glory.
Right now we have to defend our title and everyone will put up a spirited fight to the end of the season. When we qualified to the group stage of the Confederation Cup, our attention shifted to reaching the final and that fight is on,” he said.
Speaking in a separate interview, chairperson for the Nkana Supporters David Mensah said in order to ensure continuity of success at the Wusakile boys, the club needed to retain all members of the technical bench that worked with the late Mwale.
“The current coaching bench has shown their capability to win for the club and therefore, we would like to appeal to the executive and sponsors Mopani Copper Mines to retain them for the sake of continuity,” he said.
But club secretary Ken Mwansa said the executive will meet to discuss the matter and a possible replacement.
“I think it’s too early to start discussing that issue but definitely, as an executive we will meet and that matter will come up,” he said.
