A Ndola magistrate court has convicted a Ugandan and fined him K3,000 for unlawful stay in the country.
Magistrate Moffat Phiri convicted Moses Sesanga, 35, upon his admission of guilt.
The convict between April 7 and May 7, this year in Ndola unlawfully remained in the country without authority.
The facts in this case were that on May 9, this year in Ndola, Sesanga was found with an expired Ugandan passport.
In mitigation, the convict pleaded for lenience and told the court that he was sorry for his action and that he came to Zambia to look for employment.
He, however, fined him K3,000 and in default to serve five months imprisonment with hard labour.
In another court, an Egyptian pleaded guilty to trading in Zambia without authority.
Abdelmone Ahmed Laban, 27, pleaded guilty to the charge before Ndola Magistrate Chitundu Chongo.
It is alleged that Laban between January 9 and May 19, this year in Ndola unlawfully engaged in trade without authority.
Another Egyptian Emad Eltohamy, 35, in the same court pleaded guilty to unlawful stay in the country.
It is alleged that Eltohamy between May 13 and 19 this year in Ndola remained in the country without authority.
Ms Chongo adjourned the cases to today for written facts.
