ZAMBIA Under-20 soccer team coach Hector Chilombo has predicted a tough match against Mozambique when the two sides square up in a Senegal 2015 Africa Youth Championship first round return leg qualifier at Nkoloma Stadium.
Chilombo said in an interview yesterday after a training session that he was anticipating a tough clash with Mozambique despite them coming into the match trailing 2-0.
“I think we have an idea as to what to expect from Mozambique who are coming here to try and give a tough match. The boys have shaped up well and I do not see them failing to finish off the job started in Maputo,” he said.
The Napsa Stars trainer said the boys will take the game seriously and that they will not underrate their opponents owing to the two-goal advantage from the first leg.
He said Mozambique would try to frustrate his side in a bid to score some goals but that his players had been well-prepared for the match.
“The team is ready, we are ready to finish off from where we left in Maputo and I am confident we shall advance to the final round of qualifiers,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mozambique arrived in the country yesterday with assistant coach Nelinho Kauna, saying his team was in Zambia to win and secure qualification to the next round.
Speaking in an interview upon arrival at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA) in Lusaka, Nelinho said Zambia was a strong side but that his teams’ aim is to win the game at all cost.
“We lost at home and Zambia is a big team, but I am confident that we will win the match. We have something different for Zambia this time around,” he said.
The winner of this match will face either Malawi or the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), who drew 1-all in the first leg, in the final round of qualifiers.
