By MOSES CHIMFWEMBE –
ZESCO United head coach George Lwandamina has predicted a tough race towards winning the MTN-FAZ Premier League title as he seeks to deliver a fourth league trophy for the Ndola outfit.
Lwandamina said in an interview that it was difficult to single out a team that would win the league as all teams are serious contenders to win the league title.
He said the fact that the top teams were consistent at recording victories as well as dropping points was a clear indication that the season was competitive.
“The league this season is very much open as you can see that the top four teams are separated by only two points. Football spherical and results can bounce in any direction and the fact that no team has gone further than other teams is a good development.
We have just played nine games and we are miles away but so far, the season has been competitive and no team can be underrated,” he said.
Meanwhile, on loan Togolese defender Emmanuel Mathias has said the Zambian league is full of talented and quality players.
Mathias, who is on a six-month loan from South African PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns, said he was enjoying Zambian football.
“I received a lot of encouragement from Kennedy Mweene before I came
to Zesco and I never thought the Zambian league was this competitive.
Having played just about eight games for Zesco, I am feeling as though I should be here for a long time. The Zambian league is so competitive and it has a lot of quality players and the people here are very friendly, I am enjoying my stay,”
he said.
