ABOUT 80 organisations have so far confirmed participation in next month’s Inter Company Relay (ICR) to be held in the Lusaka Showgrounds under the theme ‘Act Now to Stop Road Accidents’.
ICR chairperson Elias Mpondela said in a statement yesterday that the preparations towards hosting the event that will also run under the sub theme ‘Stop Child Marriages and Child Abuse for Kids Athletics’, were progressing on well.

Amateur Athletics Association (ZAAA) president, said this year’s race will have new entrants and advised organisations to register early to avoid the last minute rash and inconveniences
He named the new companies that will be taking part as Huawei Technologies, G. Rutherford Outdoor Advertising, South African Airways, Securities and Exchange Commissions, Waterfalls Hotel while Chinese Corporation in Zambia will have five relay teams taking part in the event.
ICR technical officer in charge of the Electronic Timing System (ETS) John Chizu said registration date has been set for May 30 to allow for enough time for the information to be fed into the ETS.
First Lady Christine Kaseba, who will grace the event, will take part in the five kilometres health walk together with Chinese Ambassador Zhou Yuxiao and his wife.
Among the chief executive officers expected to take part include Charity Lumpa of Airtel Zambia, Muchindu Kasongola of Madison General Insurance, Zamtel’s Mupanga Mwanakatwe,
Nawa Samatebele of ZICTA, Prosper Batchi of Bata Zambia and Robinson Misitala of National Airports Corporation Limited.
