THE Post lead story of May 8, 2014 headlined “Mpombo sees PF winning in 2016,”cannot pass without comment.
The writing is on the wall that PF will emerge victorious in the 2016 forthcoming general elections owing to its unprecedented ambitious construction projects among other achievements.
It is not by coincidence that such projects are being implemented now but due to PF’s strict adherence to its party manifesto. And is it imperative for us all to understand that as certain gains are made on one hand, losses are also expected on the other hand.
This is how any economy operates the world over; like a seesaw in which weight tides are seen.
It may be folly for anyone to begin to perversely judge the PF Government harshly just less than three years of its rule when UNIP ruled for 27 years, while MMD had a mandate of 20 years.
Like People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president George Mpombo said, the current opposition political parties’ aggregate effort is inept to unseat progressive PF.
Most of these opposition political parties seem not to be providing the much needed checks and balances but resort to undesirable provocative means of discourse which ultimately renders their existence irrelevant.
Progressive and peaceful Zambian citizens will in 2016 use development as a hallmark of re-electing the PF into power. However, all that is needed in PF is acceptance of new members and total discipline.
