CHOMA’S Macha Police officer-in-charge, Emmanuel Zulu, has been arrested and charged with two counts of assault on two residents of Namwala District.
Police spokesperson Charity Munganga, who confirmed this yesterday, said Mr Zulu was arrested last week and was in police custody.
Ms Munganga said Mr Zulu was further charged with one count of stock theft and one count of theft by public servant involving K10, 500 in another matter.
Mr Zulu, 37, an inspector by rank, allegedly assaulted Vena Kabwata, 37, of Mulomoka Village and Kethwell Kabwata, 38, both of Namwala.
Mr Zulu is alleged to have assaulted a third person who was nursing wounds at a health centre in Namwala.
Ms Munganga said all the incidents occurred between February and March this year and that Mr Zulu was expected to appear in court this week on the assault charges.
