IT is pleasing to hear reports that the Government will soon launch the 2014/2015 Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) distribution exercise.
This is as it should be to end the perennial late delivery of fertiliser and other agricultural inputs to the small-scale but viable farmers around the country.
Late delivery of inputs has always had a huge bearing on the annual crop production as it drastically lowers the yield.

What has become of the Government-mooted programme to conscript school leavers and other youths for Zambia National Service in the country?

Briefcase feels there is need to revisit the programme in earnest as it has the capacity to help youths contribute more meaningfully towards national economic development.
