FORMER champions Zanaco thrashed Nakambala Leopards to leapfrog into second position as Indeni stunned Napsa Stars to record their first win of the season after yesterday’s MTN-FAZ Premier League Week Seven matches played at Woodlands Stadium.

Zanaco have 14 points same as Zesco United but the bankers have a superior goal difference over the Ndola side while Napsa missed the chance of going into second position after a shock loss to Indeni, dropping to fifth with 12 points.

Aubrey Zulu handed Zanaco the lead in the 42nd minute after finishing off a rebound after Nakambala goalkeeper Kelvin Musonda had parried a Roderick Kabwe well-executed free-kick.

Kabwe then doubled the advantage for Zanaco with a header off a Henry Banda cross as the Aggrey Chiyangi-coached side continued piling pressure on a Nakambala side that remained stuck on seven points.

Striker Moses Phiri, who missed a wonderful opportunity in the 18th minute to give his side the lead after blasting his shot high at goal, scored his brace in the 78 and 82 minutes to seal victory for Zanaco.

Phiri completed his brace after he was found in space by a Banda cross before he was replaced by former Chipolopolo star Isaac Chansa.

Kabwe was voted the man-of-the-match and picked up a Gotv decoder.
