SECRETARY to the Cabinet Roland Msiska has called on all Zambians to be united to develop this country.
He said at the Labour Day award giving ceremony for the Public Service Commission in Lusaka that the country could not develop if Zambians continued to have a ‘pull him down’ mentality.
He said some Zambians never wanted to see others do well and that this had impacted negatively on economic development of the country.
“We must start to think like free people and appreciate others when they are doing well, we should not have a poor mentality,” he said.
Dr Msiska said our founding fathers had a great vision for this country hence the need for everyone to understand that vision and work together for a common goal.
“The vision that our founding fathers had for this country can cleary be seen in the national anthem, the court of arms and the Zambian flag. All these three talk about unity, vision and the great identity that this nation has,” he said.
He said every Zambian should enjoy working hard to contribute to the creation of that great nation which was stipulated in the first phase of our national anthem.
He also called on the Public Service Commission to be focused and strong when doing their work and emulate the attributes of an eagle on our Zambian flag.
He said the Zambian Government was committed to creating decent jobs for its citizens and so far decentralisation had created over 2,000 jobs.
“As Zambia cerebrates 50 years of independence, the majority citizens should be empowered through the creation of more jobs,” he said.
