Indeni 1 Blades 2-
STONES rained yesterday as Konkola Blades cruised to a morale-boosting away win over Indeni in the MTN Premier Division League Week Six match played in Ndola.
Some unruly Indeni fans, who could not stomach an imminent home defeat, threw stones and other missiles on the pitch after Blades grabbed their second goal, forcing disruption of the match for six minutes.
The home team managed to respond to their fans’ frustration by scoring a consolation goal moments after play resumed.
Earlier, Indeni paid the price of missing a penalty as Blades hit the target twice to register their second win of the season.
Indeni were awarded a penalty on 40 minutes after Humphrey Maseneko handled in the box but Dan Chama blasted the resultant spot kick over the bar.
Blades hit back almost immediately as Maseneko atoned for his mistake by putting the visitors ahead, beating a stranded Indeni goalkeeper, Humphrey Mwenya at the near-post.
Elson Mkandawire ensured maximum points for Beston Chambeshi’s men when he knocked in a header on 52 minutes from hard-working Maseneko.
Mkandawire’s goal riled some of the Indeni fans who resorted to hurling objects on the pitch.
But on 68 minutes, Indeni got a consolation through top scorer, Kalambo Kanda who headed home a Perry Mubanga cross. Kanda has now hit the target five times for winless Indeni.
Zesco 0 Power 0
Power Dynamos goalkeeper Joshua Titima yesterday produced seven world class saves to earn his side a point at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium against a dominant Zesco United, reports MOSES CHIMFWEMBE from Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
It was also the first time these two sides were dropping points but Power maintained top slot with 16 points, three clear of second-placed Zesco, who have played a game less.
Striker Jackson Mwanza was the biggest culprit for the home side after failing to convert four glorious chances in a one-on-one situation while Emmanuel Chimpinde headed wide a Alex Ng’onga’s pin point cross from the right flank.
Power’s only chance of the game came on 32 minutes when Jimmy Ndhlovu forced out a save from Zesco shot stopper Lameck Nyangu who was merely a spectator throughout the game.
Zanaco 3 Roan 0
At Sunset Stadium, Zanaco trounced 10-man Roan United to move into fifth position with 11 points while the visitors poor start to the season continued as they dropped to bottom of the log with only a point, reports ELIAS CHIPEPO.
Samson Chilupe gave Zanaco the lead in the 13th minute after Roan goalkeeper Evans Mwewa had paired a Henry Banda header and Moses Phiri doubled the advantage at the stroke of half time with a penalty.
Mwewa brought down Mathews Macha inside the box but luckily escaped a card from referee Jan Sikazwe who only granted the penalty as Phiri converted with ease.
Roan suffered a setback after Sikazwe sent off Joseph Kamalondo in the 78th minute for a crude tackle on Banda and Zanaco made most of their man advantage in the 90th minute with a powerful long range Macha shot.
Buffaloes 2 Arrows 0
IN an earlier encounter played at Sunset Stadium and also beamed live on SuperSport, Green Buffaloes got back to winning ways thanks to goals from the striking twin of Felix Katongo and Felix Sunzu.
Katongo scored from the spot in the 24th minute after referee Wisdom Chewe awarded the penalty after Allan Mukuka was fouled inside the box before Sunzu made sure of the result in the 42nd minute to send Buffaloes up to six points while Arrows dropped into sixth position
with nine points.
Nchanga 0 Assembly 0
Nchanga Rangers were held to a barren draw by National Assembly who maintained their unbeaten run moving to 12 points, five ahead of the hosts. Rangers had a Bwalya Kasonde goal disallowed in the 90th minute.
Mine Police 1 Eagles 1
Green Eagles snatched a vital point at Konkola Mine Police in Chililabombwe after holding their hosts to a draw.
