INTERNATIONAL Master (IM) Daniel Jere and Women Fide Master (WFM) Epah Tembo on Thursday tumbled in their round six games at the on going CUCA International Chess Championships in Angola.
According to the results posted on the Chess-results .com, Jere, playing on board one, recorded his second defeat in the tournament with his latest defeat to Grand Master (GM) Fier Alexandr of Brazil.
From the six games that he had played so far in the competition, Jere has three wins, a draw and two losses, to put him in the sixth position on the ratings with 3.5 points.
In his opening game, Jere beat Maia Mariano Tesoura De of Mozambique, before beating the hosts player, Silva Davids in the second round.
Jere beat Angola’s Oliveira Luciano in the fifth round and lost his sixth round to GM Alexandr.
Brazilian’s GM Alexandr tops the chart on 4.5 points and he is followed by GM Karpatchev Aleksandr of Russia also on 4.5 points tied with his compatriot GM Papin Vasily on 4.5points.
Belgium’s GM Malakhatko Vadim is in the fifth place also on 4.5 points, leaving Rocha Sergio of Portugual, Jere, Fide Master (FM) Domingas Catarino and Simoes Joao to settle for the sixth, seventh and eight positions on the 3.5 points each, respectively.
By Press time, Jere was scheduled to take on GM Malakhatko Vandim of Belgium.
In the women’s category, Tembo suffered a round six defeat at the hands of Women Grand Master (WGM) Maisiradze Nino of France.
Tembo, who started the championship on a good start, has a record of three wins and three losses so far.
She was expected to take on Rosalina Sonia of Angola in the round seven game.
