TWO Zambian judo referees have been picked to officiate at the 2nd edition of the Africa Youth Games to be held next month in Botswana.
Zambia Judo Association (ZJA) president Alfred Foloko said that the two referees Francis Linosi and Hoby Chisanga were picked by the Botswana Athletics Youth Games Organising Committee (BAYGOC).
Foloko said appointment of Linosi, who is the ZJA technical director, and Chisanga, who is national coach, was a clear indication of the impact Zambia was making around the globe in judo.
“I can confirm that two of our referees have been selected to officiate at the Africa Youth Games to be held in Botswana next month. Judo is spreading like bush fire in Zambia and we would like to congratulate our two officials for the appointment.
This is also a confirmation that the continent and indeed the world at large appreciate the strides that we have made so far,” he said.
The Africa Youth Games will run from May 22 to 31 and African athletes will compete in 21 sports disciplines that include swimming, judo, badminton, karate, boxing and track and field among others.
