GOVERNMENT has allocated K355,000 for the upgrading of Kitwe’s Wusakile’s B7 Clinic into a maternity health institution.
Wusakile Member of Parliament Richard Musukwa said the upgrading would involve construction of a new maternity block.
He said this would help reduce maternal mortality deaths in the area.
Mr Musukwa said in an interview that the upgrading of the clinic would allow the institution to operate 24 hours unlike now when it was only operating eight hours.
He said the money for the construction would come from the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) that had already been
approved.
Mr Musukwa, who is also mines deputy minister said the expansion of the clinic would also help reduce the number of mothers dying in the process of giving birth from home as clinics in the constituency were over crowded.
He also said all roads in Luangwa and surrounding areas in Wusakile constituency were earmarked for rehabilitation.
“Works have been going on in all the five wards and that Luangwa roads were the target for now because the roads in this area were in a deplorable state,” he said.
Mr Musukwa said the road works would start from SOS Village and covering a total of six roads within Wusakile constituency.
He further added that the works would include the rehabilitation of the damaged United Church of Zambia (UCZ) bridge in Wusakile.
