mnTO read that a court dissolved a marriage between the blind over infidelity not only raises eye-brows, but also reflects how morality has collapsed to the lowest level.
Man, woman, young and old of all classes have fallen prey to evil attacks.
Morals have decayed that reports of fathers defiling their own daughters, grandfathers abusing own grandchildren, law enforcers on the wrong side of the very law they are supposed to uphold and clergy disappointing flock are alarming.
This couple of Kang’onga on the outskirts of Ndola divorced with each party accusing the other of being unfaithful.
It was heard that both were not strangers to that court as they had a history of extra-marital affairs, she is said to have found him with a woman in bed, while he claimed his wife spent time with other men.
Not that the visually-impaired ought to be holier than others, but if temptations came by viewing ‘forbidden fruits’ to what extent is the mind corrupt such that it could sin even without being attracted to image?
Adultery begets treachery committed under the cover of darkness or where the victim is not aware, it is hard to imagine how a visually impaired would tiptoe out of his or her partner to cheat.
It is the mind that harbours bad thoughts, it is the mind that plans evil, it’s the mind that executes evil and the mind conceals bad habits, therefore, it is the same mind that needs to be cleansed.
Let there be deliberate efforts to train every mind not to entertain thoughts that lead to evil, let there be deliberate efforts to feed our minds with enriching imagery.
Only when both the sighted and visually impaired begin to keep their minds busy by thinking of productive ideas that would benefit society in which they exist.
