By KALUMIANA KALUMIANA –

NKANA host Roan United today at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe hoping to end their four-match winless spell in competitive encounters.

The defending MTN Premier Division League champions have picked up three draws and a defeat on the trot and trace their last win to March 8 when they defeated Ugandan club, KCCA 2-1 away in Kampala in a 2014 CAF Champions League first round, final leg match.

Nkana have so far picked up just two draws in the league both scoreless and away, as they head into their first home game of the season.

Coach Masautso Mwale has rallied his charges to stand up and be counted and reignite the passion to defend the MTN/FAZ Super League title.

“We just need to be positive and be on top of things it is time we start collecting points,” Mwale said.

“We have to play for a positive result so that we can start accumulating the points that will help us to defend the league title.”

Nkana have also been handed a big boost with the availability of striker Ronald Kampamba following his recovery late this past week from a hamstring injury.

However, Mwale remains without Bruce Musakanya due to injury and Frank Chibuye who underwent knee surgery recently and is expected to be out of action for at least a month.

And visiting bottom placed Roan head to Kitwe facing an uphill battle after three straight defeats since the start of the season.

Furthermore, Roan have failed to pick up a win over Nkana in their last three league meetings since September, 2012 in which they have come away with two draws and a defeat.

Today’s match will be preceded by Indeni’s home game against fellow promotion side, National Assembly in the lunchtime kick off at Nkana Stadium.

Meanwhile, in today’s other Week Four matches, Zanaco host Napsa Stars in a second-versus-third clash at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka in one of two prime fixtures in the capital city this afternoon.

The other one is at Woodlands Stadium, where Green Buffaloes host Zesco United.

Buffaloes are hoping to avoid a slip-up after beating Roan 4-3 last Saturday away in Luanshya to pick up their first game of the season to end a two-match losing run.

Elsewhere, Kabwe Warriors host Green Eagles in Kabwe, Konkola Blades visit Nakambala Leopards in search of their first win of the season.

Tomorrow, leaders Power Dynamos face Nchanga Rangers in Chililabombwe in a doubleheader at Konkola Stadium that will also see Konkola Mine Police host Red Arrows.
