SEVEN-YEAR-OLD Chanda Muma has stolen the limelight at the International Table Tennis Federation World Hopes Week and Challenge training camp in Lusaka with his silky skills impressing visiting ping pong expert, Mohamed Ameen.
Ameen was impressed with the talent exhibited by Muma of OlympAfrica Club during the first day of the ITTF training camp junior players at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) in Lusaka yesterday.
In an interview, Ameen said Muma was talented and only needed nurturing to become a great ping pong player.
“I am impressed with Muma’s playing skills. He is only seven years and has an opportunity of becoming a great tennis player before 12 years with the kind of platform ITTF is providing,” he said
Ameen said there were generally good players at the OYDC training camp and now needed to be equipped with the necessary playing skills to move the sport a step further.
He said the sole purpose of the camp was to identify talent and then nurture it to a level where players could compete in international tournaments.
