BEST known from his popular hit songs; Pembela and Mama Waluse, Mwaba Kasongo, aka Big MK the Don, is among the upcoming musicians of this era.

Mwaba comes from a family of music lovers with the greater contribution to his music career being from meeting friends who are interested in music.

MK the Don completed his primary school education at Riverain Primary School in 1997 and from there; he proceeded to Mukuba High School where he gained interest to be a music artiste.

“During my time at Mukuba High School, a music club was introduced and an amateur studio being set-up by my friend “DJ Gee” of the Iyohi

Sounds Group in 2001,” he says.

Kasongo’s love for music saw him organise various musical shows both within and outside the school.

“By then, Zambian music had started branching into another dimension inspired by the likes of Daddy Zemus, Danny Siulapwa, Twice and

Nasty-D,” he says.

Upon completing his high school, he went on to pursue a programme in accounting under The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Mwaba says combining music and school proved to be extremely hard because his schedule was a tight one.

Nevertheless, he remained optimistic that sooner or later, he would complete his studies and this would make it easy for him earn the

money to pay for studio time.

Now employed as an Accountant in a highly reputable organisation, Mwaba has found it easy to raise the funds that are required to forester his musical carrier.

“It’s at Laka Rythmz where I have worked with various existing and upcoming artists who have helped me to propel my career forward,” he said.

Kasongo says his future objective is to become an acclaimed global music artiste sending positive message of love and reconciliation across the world and being a voice for vulnerable people.

From the saying, “from small things come out big things”, Big MK believes he can change the world for the better by teaching people to love one another.
