By DELPHINE ZULU –

TRANSPARENCY International Zambia (TIZ) has described investigations against Youth and Sport Minister Chishimba Kambwili and Chongwe Member of Parliament (MP) Sylvia Masebo as a clear indication that the fight against corruption is genuine.
TIZ Executive director Goodwell Lungu said investigations against those serving in the Patriotic Front (PF) Government showed that there was no selective application of the law.
On Tuesday, the Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) announced that it had instituted investigations against Mr Masebo and Mr Kambwili.
The ACC also gave an update on MPs Ronald Chitotela for Pambashe and Mwansabombwe’s Rodgers Mwewa who are also being probed.
“These ACC investigations against serving officials in Government will help create a positive impression that there is no one above the law and there is no selective application of the law,” Mr Lungu said.
TIZ has further appealed to members of the public, in particular civil servants, to continue reporting any form of suspicious transaction in the civil service and other public offices.
African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption (APNAC) Zambia chapter chairperson Cornelius Mweetwa said his organisation welcomed investigations but urged ACC to take the probe seriously.
Mr Mweetwa, who is Choma Central MP, said cases involving politicians should not end up as academic exercise.
“They should be genuine and fair. We do not want to see people cleared when they are in Government and later arrested after leaving office,” Mr Mweetwa said.
