Copperbelt 7 Midlands 21-
THE Midlands Rugby Select side at the weekend reigned supreme beating their Copperbelt counterparts with a resounding victory.
This tournament played at the Ndola Wanderers Rugby Club attracted about 55 players from the two regions.
The Midlands team under the tutelage of ‘Powerhouse’ Lusaka coach Joshua Lungu, who was being assisted by Mwamba Chishimba of Red Arrows, saw Oscar Bwalya, Berthlock Sikaona and Israel Kalumba score a try each.
Andrew Mwape scored two conversions and a penalty to propel the visitors to a well deserved victory.
Kaluba Chilundami scored a try while Fine Chikumbe made the conversion for the Robertson ‘Plough’ Kang’ongwe coached Copperbelt team.
The Zambia Rugby Union (ZRU) was using the Midlands versus Copperbelt Select side competition to pick players for the 15s and Sevens national teams.
