Teenager Goveia crowned swimmer-of-the-year

TEENAGER Ralph Goveia has been crowned the Zambia Amateur Swimming Union (ZASU) 2013/14 swimmer-of-the-year.
During the annual ZASU awards gala at the Greek Hall in Lusaka, Goveia was rewarded for his exceptional performance and positive attitude across all age groups.
Goveia will also be among the athletes who will represent Zambia at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympics in China this year.
The coach-of-the-year award went to Adrian Sikaonga whom ZASU president David Thompson Sikaonga said excelled in coaching and exhibited excellent coaching skills, empathy, enthusiasm and also good motivator to the athletes.
Simba Seals Club was named Zambia’s Jubilee Club for its exemplary performance after earning the highest number of points in the Jubilee gala.
The determined swimmer-of-the-year accolade went to Nsama Lifuka, while Amin Tashiro got the personal best award.
Liam Rumbell was awarded for breaking the highest number of national records during various competitions hosted last year.
AIS Torpedoes received the 2013 ZASU League Winner’s award after accumulating the highest number of points.
The administrator-of-the-year was scooped by Tinky Naidu with the President’s Trophy going to Liam Ramball, while the Club Spirit award was grabbed by Boabab Barracudas Swimming Club.
