THE Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) has released over K50,000 for the rehabilitation of a classroom block at Chamukwapula Community School in Sinazongwe.
The 1X2 classroom block at the school located in Nkandabwe ward in Sinazongwe, was recently damaged with its roof ripped off after a heavy down pour.
Sinazongwe Member of Parliament Richwell Siamunene handed over the money to the school authority yesterday in which the contractor was expected to start the rehabilitation work next week.
Mr Siamunene, who is Commerce, Trade and Industry Deputy Minister said, the ambitious developmental agenda the Patriotic Front (PF) Government had embarked on, was improving the living standards of people in Sinazongwe.
“This is time to work and time for politicking is long gone, we have to work in unity because the PF Government is seriously delivering various developments. Don’t be derailed by some politicians criticising our efforts as Government to develop our country,” he said.
He said Sinazongwe was one of the many rural constituencies in the province where Government was delivering tangible developments in line with people’s expectations.
Mr Siamunene said President Michael Sata needed support from all Zambians regardless of political affiliations to achieve his objectives of developing the country.
Mr Siamunene said developing Zambia required collective efforts from all citizens hence his decision to closely work with PF Government.
In a vote of thanks, headman Francis Chiyabi urged the contractor, Cleftol Construction Company to consider employing local people during the rehabilitation of the school.
He said the rehabilitation of the school was an important project in creating employment opportunities for local youths.
