A TURKISH company specialising in the construction of pre-fabricated infrastructure has expressed readiness to help Zambia enhance food security by building cost-effective grain storage facilities in rural areas.
PREFI Company Limited, renowned for constructing and supplying pre-fabricated buildings, is seeking to explore the Zambian market and venture into partnership with the agriculture intensive country.
PREFI Board chairperson Belma Yilmazyigit told Zambia’s Ambassador to Turkey Miriam Mulenga in Ankara that her firm had the ability to help Zambia increase grain storage capacity through construction of pre-fabricated storage sheds with a life-span of 50 years.
Ms Mulenga who was accompanied by First Secretary for Economic & Trade Cephas Silwamba was taken on a conducted tour of the company premises, and witnessed the production process of various pre-fabricated products.
This is according to a statement made available by Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Zambia in Ankara, Bwalya Nondo.
Ms Mulenga said Zambia attached great importance to infrastructure development and she assured the company of Zambia’s willingness to
help the organisation explore investment opportunities.
She said food storage facilities were also an important aspect in Zambia’s quest for national food security.
