ZAMBIA Basketball Association (ZBA) president Shawi Fawaz and his entire executive committee yesterday bounced back into office after the elective annual general meeting held in Kitwe.
Fawaz went through unopposed together with his vice presidents for north and south Andrew Nyirenda and Conrad Musonda respectively.
Mweembe Kaona, who had been acting general secretary, got the position after his only challenger Rodrick Njovu withdrew from the race with Pamela Shikaputo was also elected unopposed as national treasurer.
As others were bouncing back unopposed, Lovemore ‘Porterfield’ Sikaale had to fend off competition from FIBA instructor Daniel Chawela polling 19 votes against 17 in a tightly contested election.
The Fawazi led executive committee had been acting an interim capacity following elections held last year after members passed a vote of no confidence in the Boniface Kambikambi executive committee.
