ABOUT Fifty Turkish business organisations under the Ankara Businessmen and Industrialists Association (ABIA), have expressed interest to invest in Zambia.
The business executives who include women, are drawn from the Turkish pharmaceutical, construction, manufacturing, mining and transport sectors.
The ABIA members communicated their interests to venture in Zambia at a business promotion breakfast in Ankara where Zambia’s Ambassador to Turkey Mirriam Mulenga was guest of honour.
This is contained in a statement made available in Ndola yesterday by Deputy Head of Mission at Zambia’s Embassy in Turkey, Bwalya Nondo.
The ABIA members, who were taken through business and tourism presentations followed by a video showcasing Zambia’s trade climate and opportunities, said they were attracted by the country’s unique nature as an investment destination.
Mrs Mulenga said Zambia’s stable political environment presented an excellent investment climate that many countries are taking advantage of.
She said the Investment Protection and Promotion Agreement (IPPA) which was being finalised, was an indication of the seriousness between Turkey and Zambia to enhance economic cooperation.
Mrs Mulenga also invited the ABIA to participate in this year’s Zambia International Trade Fair in Ndola and the Agricultural and Commercial Show in Lusaka.
ABIA Board Chairperson Harun Akca said that Zambia was among key African countries that Turkey was looking to, for doing business.
