A ZESCO Limited technician in Kasama has been found dead lying face down across railway tracks after an alleged social venture with a sex worker.
He was picked from the Tazara railway crossing near Lukashya Trades Training Institute on Monday with the engine of his black Mark II vehicle still running.
Northern Province police chief Charity Katanga identified the deceased as Reuben Kamanga, aged 32, of Mulenga Hill Township.
Ms Katanga said according to information gathered by police from Mr Kamanga’s close associates, the deceased had picked up a sex worker two weeks ago while his wife was away.
“The sex worker, however, kept appearing and disappearing in his house although other people could not see her.
“This led him to seek intervention through a prayer session from a clergyman only identified as Pastor Bwalya,” Ms Katanga said.
The prayer session was apparently unsuccessful, and his friends suspected that was what pushed him to allegedly take his life.
Mr Kamanga’s body was taken to Kasama General Hospital for a post-mortem while the police were investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, another man was on Monday found dead with his skin peeling.
Ms Katanga said Peter Mukuka, 60, of Holland Village was reported to have left his home at 04:00 hours to have his radio repaired in town.
When he did not return home, passers-by found him dead without his skin.
Ms Katanga said the officers who went to pick up the body found no signs of struggle despite his body looking like it had been burnt by hot water.
“We suspect he could have been struck by a bolt of lightning,” she said.
