MIDFIELDER Bruce Musakanya is Nkana’s only injury doubt as the Zambian Champions leave for Egypt today for the 2014 CAF Champions League second round return leg fixture against Zamalek.
Nkana’s decision to leave for Cairo today was prompted by Zamalek’s earlier decision to play the match on Friday but the former African club champions later moved the match to Sunday.
Efforts by the club to delay departure to Thursday hit a snag as flights into Egypt are fully booked.
Nkana coach Masauso Mwale said in an interview yesterday that the players were geared to get qualification to the group stage.
“We are going there (Egypt) with a positive mind and the players are in good spirits for a positive result because the game can go either way,” he said.
And Mwale said all the players were fit for the return leg except for Musakanya who sustained a recurring hamstring injury.
Musakanya, on loan from rivals Red Arrows, featured in the barren draw against Zamalek at Nkana Stadium.
“We have no major injury concerns all the players are fine expect Bruce who is not well. He picked up an injury during Saturday’s game,” Mwale said.
Nkana are scheduled to leave for Cairo through Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International at lunch time via Addis Ababa.
The Kitwe side needs a victory or a scoring draw to seal a place in the lucrative group stages. To get this far, Nkana eliminated Mbabane Swallows and Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) 5-4 and 4-3 on aggregate.
