GREEN Buffaloes won the Netball Association of Zambia (NAZ) Open tournament held at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) in Lusaka at the weekend.
Buffaloes walked away with K800 and a trophy for their triumph followed by Lusaka City Council (LCC) who got K500 and trophy while third placed finishers Napsa walked away with a netball.
In men’s madala’s category, Zambia National Service (ZNS) emerged victorious to pocket K800 with Nkwazi finishing second to get K500 as Kasama went back home with a netball.
Ministry of Health Luanshya club won the women madala’s title after finishing ahead of Nkwazi as Kasama settled for third place.
Other teams that participated in the tournament were Konkola Copper Mines (KCM), Red Arrows and Chililabombwe while school teams included LACS Academy, Cheleston, Ng’ombe, Chibote, Pestalozi and Chongwe Girls and Boys Schools.
Meanwhile, NAZ general secretary Pritchard Ng’oma expressed worry at the low turnout of clubs at the season opening tournament.
And Ngoma said NAZ already held its annual general meeting and was ready to start the year especially that its programmes for 2014 had already been approved.
