CHAMPIONS Red Arrows today seek to maintain early leadership of the Zambia Rugby Union (ZRU) national league when they guest Green Eagles in Kabwe in what promises to be an exciting Week Three fixture.
Second-placed ‘Men At Work’ Diggers are away to Roan with ‘Powerhouse’ Lusaka enjoying another home fixture when they host Nkwazi, while Green Buffaloes make a long trip to Kalulushi to face Chibuluma.
Arrows lead the log with nine points after the two games played followed by Diggers and Lusaka both on eight points with Eagles and Buffaloes on four points, while Chibuluma, Nkwazi and Roan are still searching for the season first points.
Eagles v Arrows
Eagles started their campaign on a convincing note thumping Buffaloes 28-8 but suffered a 23-9 defeat away to Lusaka last weekend and will need to rediscover their form especially that they host league leaders Arrows.
Arrows come into this fixture straight from recording back-to-back wins to maintain top on the log and will be looking forward to adding getting more points over Eagles and possibly with a bonus point.
Roan v Diggers
Troubled Roan face another tough test after sufferring a humiliating 48-3 thumping at the hands of Arrows and will need a miracle to go past a Diggers side that has also recorded two successive wins.
Diggers go in this match fresh from a 16-3 win over Chibuluma and coach Robertson Kangongwe will be chasing his third win to keep up with the likes of Arrows and Lusaka.
Lusaka v Nkwazi
Struggling Nkwazi make a short trip into the Lusaka Showgrounds hoping to record their first win of the campaign following two defeats but will need to be at their best to overcome their hosts, who seem to be in top form.
Elsewhere, Buffaloes are away to Chibuluma in a match that will see the two sides in desperate need of points to keep up with the early league leaders.
Meanwhile, in the B league, Prisons play Konkola with Chambishi battling it out against Kitwe Playing Fields (KPF) as ‘Killer Bees’ Ndola Wanderers host Nchanga and Kansanshi play Mufulira, while Diggers B are on bye.
