STATE House has trashed accusations by MMD leader Nevers Mumba that it is financing people to fan trouble in the former ruling party.
Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations, George Chellah has since advised Dr Mumba to stop tarnishing the image of State House by dragging it in his malicious agenda against President Michael Sata.
At a Press briefing in Lusaka yesterday, Dr Mumba alleged that State House was behind the infighting that had rocked the party.
But Mr Chellah advised Dr Mumba to concentrate on stabilising his party from self-inflicted problems instead of apportioning the blame on President Sata.
“We find his utterances baseless, wild, time-wasting and malicious. The Zambian people have been following the events, the turbulences, and the fights happening in MMD and these are not new but well documented.
“Just like the Zambian people, State House has also been following these events through the Press and it would be very unfair to drag President Sata in the confusion,” Mr Chellah said.
Dr Mumba alleged that current speculations on the cracks in the MMD were false and were being fuelled by ‘outsiders’.
“The MMD has remained solidly united, and there is no force from ourselves that has got the power to destroy us except if we allow that power to destroy us,” he said.
He refused to comment on allegations in the Press of him being a failure, stating that the party had its own in-built mechanisms to solve problems and would not use the media to do so.
He warned that anyone who would go to the media to divulge party issues would be dealt with decisively.
Meanwhile, former MMD national secretary Richard Kachingwe has charged that time had come for Dr Mumba to leave for alleged failure to manage affairs of the party.
Major Kachingwe said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that he predicted while serving in his previous position that Dr Mumba would fail to run the MMD.
“The hour has come for Dr Mumba to go and I am asking all the members to rally behind the leaders that are calling for him to go.
“Let him go peacefully because if he doesn’t want to go peacefully, the members
will get rid of him,” he said.
And MMD acting national secretary, Chembe Nyangu has given Lusaka Province chairperson Scorpion Kadobi and Lusaka District youth chairperson Nathan
Mwanza 10 days in which to exculpate themselves for breaching the party constitution.
Mr Kadobi and Mr Mwanza have both been slapped with the charges after they released a statement stating that MMD top officials, including the two vice-presidents Michael Kaingu and Brian Chituwo, were plotting to topple Dr Mumba.
Mr Nyangu in his letters issued in Lusaka yesterday also warned Die-Hard youth wing coordinator Bowman Lusambo and his northern region chairperson Given Ziba against impersonation.
