THE Zambia Police Service has said it is prepared to meet those breaking the law and ensure order in the country prevails.
Police Deputy spokesperson Rae Haamonga said yesterday that threats of any nature or calls for violence would not in any way prevent police officers from making sure that Zambia was governed in a conducive environment.
“It should be understood that rights have limitations and, therefore, those who want to express their rights should also abide by the law.
“As police, we shall ensure that the law is respected notwithstanding people’s rights in order to ensure that public security and the rights of others are safeguarded,” he said.
United Party for National Development president Hakainde Hichilema at a Press briefing in Lusaka yesterday condemned the police for what he termed unprofessional conduct.
He said no amount of intimidation would stop him and his party from expressing their views on national issues.
